New Rumours CD release!!

Hello, hello!  It’s been a while and actually we’ve played a gig since I last posted so sorry about that but I was lacking photos for the blog and really (IMHO) a blog needs some pics…

But I digress.  John the ‘Digital Sound Man’  http://www.digitalsoundman.co.uk/ has finished mastering our songs and has designed a pretty flashing CD cover to encase our little Compact Disc.  Photos below

We’re playing two gigs over this weekend in Watchet so if I can get some photos, or maybe even if I can’t, then I’ll post about them.

The Easter Saturday Gig

…and also Jayson’s birthday! Whoop, whoop!!  Emma made an amazing cake which was well tasty and we shared it out amongst everyone in the pub which went down very well.

Another great gig at the Quay Inn, Minehead.  Thanks to everyone who came to support us including Jayson’s posse and the Gould family.  We thought we were starting at 8.30 but Mike was keen for us to get going so we did a couple unplugged whilst John beavered away getting all the gear set up.

It was probably the busiest gig we’ve played as Rumours and actually I did feel a little bit nervous, which is quite unlike me!  Glad that I could ‘hide’ at the back and just kick out some good rhythms.  We’d been practicing quite a bit and so it was great to perform some of the songs we’d worked on including the first public performances of ‘heavy’ and ‘a little bit funny’ written by the very talented Emma Hill.

I sang a few more than I usually do which was good and that was especially enjoyed by a couple of guys at the bar who came up inbetween sets and had a good chat.  They’d had a few but it’s always nice to get complements!  They also strutted their funky stuff on the dance floor which was well good.

We’re playing at the Quay again in a couple of weeks which is quite soon so we’ll have to learn a bunch of new songs!!

We’re also busy organising our 2016 gigs so if you’re looking for a quality band to play an event or pub then let us know!

Thanks for reading.  Peace out xx

Plug for John!

Here he is!!  John’s had some business cards made up so true to my word I will share it with the world.

In 2016 a crack music-tech retired from the world of PC maintenance and escaped into the West Country Underground.  If you need high quality sound equipment at your gig, if you need someone to record your live sound and mix it…and if you can find him (actually quite easy)..then maybe you need to call THE A-TEAM…ahem got a bit carried away there.  Actually I meant you need to call John on the above numbers.

Gig tonight will post some photos if any are taken and when I get the time.

Peace out xx

Digital Sound Man

The past two weekends we’ve been recording some tracks with John ‘the digital sound man’ which has been amazing fun.  John is a tech-wiz when it comes to music production.  He does all the sound setup for Rumours and records us whilst we perform.

Now that John’s retired from his day job he’s got some spare time he’s looking to go into business for local musicians and bands.  So if you’re in the South West and need someone to provide and set up sound equipment, record your music and then produce it give him a call.  I’ll put john’s website details up when he’s finished making it!

We’ve got some of our tracks on Soundcloud now;

The Valentine’s Day Gig.

This was a great gig, if i do say so myself!  A bar full of friends, a good set list and we nailed it.  It’s probably easier for me as I mostly play cajon so I’m not worrying about remembering lyrics or tricky parts on the guitar.

We’d organised a Valentines Day set list with a few more romantic numbers to start with as we weren’t sure if we’d be playing whilst people were eating etc.  As it turned out the  Quay in Minehead just wanted a standard set list so we did that and mighty good fun it was!

There was some disruption as Emma’s voice had been chased away by her heavy head cold. She came along anyway, braving the elements and in the end couldn’t resist the lure of the stage!

Here are some photos;

It’s really handy that we’re all quite flexible as musicians.

We’re busy recording stuff so will post about that next.

Rumours – the line up.

Hello! Thanks for stopping by.  So I’m Adam.  I normally play cajon or harmonica depending on the song but I also do vocals, rhythm guitar and play a few other instruments.

Emma has an amazing voice so is primarily on vocals but can also play guitar and is a great percussionist.  Emma is a talented song-writer and has created some really catchy little tunes like this one below;

Jason is our heroic guitarist, shreding his fingers to accomplish musical perfection.  Apart from playing some pretty mean rhythm guitar Jason is king of the ‘mash-up’ blending together different songs to create a modern patchwork of well-known hits.

We’re busy working on a sample CD and some tracks to put on sound cloud. I’ll put up some links when it happens!

You’ll find us gigging and busking round Somerset and Devon. If you like our sound and want us to play your pub or special event then let us know in the comments on this blog or our facebook page;
